Best and Worst Trade Scenarios for Deshaun Watson

With the 53 man roster deadline coming very soon for the NFL, what should the Texans do with potential Pro Bowler quarterback Deshaun Watson? Should first year General Manager Nick Casserio keep him in hopes of rekindling a relationship with the organization? Or should a trade take place to start the rebuild of the Houston Texans? This article will explain why to keep Watson this year, and why to make the trade this year. To start of off, why should the Texans not make the trade this year? With all the allegations and “FBI Investigations” surrounding Watson, the uncertainty of suspension is looming around start of the season. Therefore why not have Deshaun as quarterback number 3 to keep him on the roster, if the commissioner’s list has been activated yet. In doing so, the cases and investigations can be completed and move on to the future. With that being done, Watson’s future wouldn’t be a concern to other teams.
In which will help the trade value tremendously. Also there could be a chance Watson would want to stay and see what the future holds for the Texans. (A very slim chance) Now to end, why make the trade in the weeks to come? With a lot of emerging talent, such Scottie Phillips and Roy Lopez, cutting players will become a tad difficult. That reason, why not trade a spot open and get some future real estate? Watson has a no trade clause in the relatively new contract that was signed last off season. Which makes finding a destination to make a trade difficult.

Luckily there is a team that is in Watson’s list of “yes” teams, the Miami Dolphins that are interesting. Why wouldn’t they be? Finished the season strong but missed the playoffs with a 10-6 record. With new additions to the offense, including Deshaun’s former teammate Will Fuller, adding Watson would make the Dolphins a Super Bowl contender. After last season having a top ten defense and building off that success, trade for Watson is the thing to do! What would that take to do so? 2 first round drafts picks and a second draft pick as well.

The value is a little high, especially with what is happening as previously mentioned. But in this case very high risk, very high reward. With all that being said, there is very slim chance we will be seeing Deshaun Watson as the quarterback of the Houston Texans this year. The rebuild and search of a franchise quarterback is now on the horizon. Until then we will see Tyrod Taylor try to bring hope to the team, hopefully that same results of the Buffalo Bills 2015 season. Or the injury bug will strike again and for the fourth team in a row, a rookie quarterback will make a debut, Davis Mills out of Stanford. Third round pick that no one can really put their finger on quite yet. With all of this being said, the Houston Texans are now in a rebuild mode and the season might be hard to watch. Something to watch is the trade saga of Deshaun Watson. When will it happen? Soon or wait and see? My opinion? What is best for the team!
